Cabin Fever Reliever 2018 Workshops
Top of the Knob Productions has partnered with Erin Crowley, Cassidy Padgett, and Adam Pfeiffer to present these morning workshops to help you start your festival day with ease. They will take place at the Chapel Stage or the Pavilion, depending on which one is not being used for music. We hope you enjoy them!
Vinyasa For All (led by Erin)
A vinyasa flow, vinyasa meaning to sync breath with movement as we move through poses. Suitable and modified for all levels of experience - aiming to open, strengthen, connect, balance and invite relaxation to the body.
Mission: Let us flow, let go, and energize our bodies with movement.
Oneness Awakening: Partner Yoga (led by Erin and Cassidy)
OA:PY is a series focused on opening our hearts to lean on one another physically and emotionally. Human touch is so often avoided. Yet, it is found to be so powerfully healing. Our practice is rooted in hatha yoga, linking prana (breath) with movement to create a flow. OA:PY is inviting to both new and experienced yogis. We incorporate yoga philosophy from teachers like Patanjali, Osho and Buddha, featuring inspiring readings and a guided meditation.
The partner sequence involves pairs of two (either arriving together or meeting at the class) – supporting our partners as a counterbalance to stretch our bodies and perspectives in ways that we cannot reach alone. OA:PY is not acro-yoga. This is a series of seated and standing poses designed for stretching and connecting with our partners.
Mission: Let us invite our hearts and minds to open, and our bodies to release grip. Let us share the magic of kindred touch. Let us love one another as ourselves and revitalize our beings together.
Soul Restore: Restorative-Vinyasa Flow (led by Erin)
Soul Restore is a slowed vinyasa flow with restorative postures designed to release us into soul, body and mind connection – sowing seeds of healing and harvesting the fruits of movement. Soul Restore invites bodily alignment and blockage opening. A beginner-friendly practice but serving for all levels. We aim to alleviate muscle tension in areas like the hips, thighs, shoulders and neck, allowing the mind to ease and center amid the journey. Exercises such as pranayama (breathwork), inspiring readings and a guided meditation are key pieces of this series.
Mission: Let us release anything that no longer serves us. Let us create openness for the new to flow.
The Art Of Herbal Medicine: Hidden Healers In Your Spice Rack (led by Cassidy)
Culinary herbs and spices have been used in cuisines throughout the world for thousands of years. Not surprisingly, these herbs are just as medicinal as they are delicious! We will be discussing the medicinal uses of many familiar culinary herbs and uncovering ways to incorporate these plants into our meals as daily preventative healthcare measures. Humanity has relied upon and given thanks to medicinal herbs since the beginning of time. We share every breath with these plants, a symbiotic relationship deeply rooted in time.
Mission: Let us share our positive intentions and the wisdom of our ancestors. Let us heal ourselves and our world with the help of our spice rack.
**Erin is a yogi from the coast of Maine; living in Cincinnati and working in digital media. She's a 200-hr YTT instructor and Healing Touch 1-2 practitioner who offers yoga in the workplace to bridge the gap between mindfulness and the corporate world, and in the community to fund-raise for local food banks through non-perishable food donations. Yogic philosophy, community involvement, poetry, rock climbing, backpacking, technology, and live music inspire her.
**Cassidy is a 300-hr certified yoga instructor, teaching in a studio setting as well as volunteering at Salvation Army shelters. She is an herbal enthusiast, combing her love of the plant world with her nursing background, to help others reconnect closer to nature. She is an advocate of sustainable living, organic farming, and a yogic lifestyle.
The Guided Meditation and Mindfulness workshops will be offered by Adam Pfeiffer, a Buddhist from Northern Illinois with a background in Counseling and who loves connecting with passionate people to assist in their positive growth. His Versions of Self workshop explores our tendency to have many public personalities. Unfortunately, these personalities are drastically different than what we feel internally. The workshop will explore the all-too-common negative effects and how to rebuild the person inside. Stop by Adam's vending booth, Gulf Coast Zen, to pick up quality handmade goods; he also offers free lightbox therapy, raffles, and face paint!
